Taking a pencil, filling a piece of paper with drawing black without order, drawing over the same spot several times, back and forth. in the end, there is an area of darkish drawing with small holes and some shading. All my work feels like this. a bit uneasy and brittle, also be bit like "pfusch". I want Schirft to feel like my work.
This text could also go: KK Schirft was inspired by the vibrant streets of Athens Exarchia neighborhood. Handdrawn in only two weeks by artist and activist Karla Krey Schirft aims to disrupt typedesign conventions and challenge the status quo.
Schirft was never meant for setting longer text. With a rhythm significantly defined by vertical lines Schirft creates irregular patterns. What are you here for, what is the usecase? Might be a shape, a single letter or the number for your list. Schirft comes with a whole second stylistic set and contextual alternates to enhance the handwritten feel.
Die Silbermöwe erwiderte
den Ruf.

Typeface finished, polished, published. I would like to thank my friends Kim, Alen, Akseli, Aleit and Jannik for spending time and sharing your thoughts on this project, as well as Prof. Konrad Renner for the discussions of baselines and drawings.
